On February 27, 2026, New York State Police arrested Dakota Wommer, age 25 of Williamsport, PA, on charges of Grand Larceny 3rd degree and Welfare Fraud 3rd degree, both class D felonies; and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st degree, and Falsifying Business Records 1st degree, both class E felonies.
On April 22, 2025, New York State Police received an investigative packet from Essex County Department of Social Services Welfare Fraud Unit regarding suspected welfare fraud.
An investigation determined that while living in Keeseville, NY, Dakota falsified multiple Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) applications by failing to report employment income, resulting in an overpayment of approximately $5,521.80.
Dakota was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Elizabethtown Town Court at a later date.
