DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – A Duluth man is among nine Minnesotans charged in a Medicaid fraud crackdown.
Court documents allege Peter Meilahn billed Medicaid for services he never provided more than 27,000 times, adding up to $2.2 million in fraud.
Meilahn is a psychotherapist who had a company called Individual Services, which once had an office space in downtown Duluth.
According to an 18-page criminal complaint, Meilahn is charged with 11 counts of felony theft and two counts of felony identity theft.
“This is a high-dollar case, particularly where just one individual is involved,” said Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison during a press conference on Tuesday. “But, as I’ve said many times, even one dollar stolen from this program is just too many.”
