Email Fraud Alert received from: Mike
I recently received an email with this subject line: Your Single Transaction Alert from Absa and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:
Dear customer,
As you requested, we are notifying you of any charges over the R1,000, as specified
in your alert settings. A charge of R2,000 at Woolworth has been authorized on Tue,
29 Jan 2013 13:02:45
Do not reply to this alert.
If you have questions, please call the number on the back of your credit card, or send
a secure message.

I was directed to a site called “themillgym) which had all Absa logos etc, requesting me to ‘go to my account’ put in account number passwords etc.
The mail came from victor.stephen@absa.alert.co.za via eigbox.net
The above email was sent by “Victor Stephen” from this email address: victor.stephen@absa.alert.co.za
I, Mike, have the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent email message from “Victor Stephen”:
I have alerted Absa to this mail
