BANGOR, Maine (WGME) — Vice President JD Vance is in Bangor on Thursday. He is expected to speak about the alleged fraud in the state.
A national Republican Party spokesperson says Vance’s visit is meant to emphasize the importance of upcoming elections in New England such as the race between Republican Senator Susan Collins and political newcomer Graham Platner, a Democrat.
Vance is also expected to speak about the alleged fraud in Maine. The White House has singled out Maine and five Democratic states, accusing them of fraud and mismanagement of federally funded Medicaid programs.
In December 2025, one provider was referred to the attorney general’s office for investigation after finding a credible allegation of fraud.
And in January, a federal audit identified $46-million in improper payments DHHS made for services supporting children with autism.
