If you receive an email with the following subject line: Download confirmation from SOMEONE_YOU_KNOW’S_NAME@gmail.com via WeTransfer then DOUBLE check that you are taken to the WeTransfer.com domain and NOT a subdomain as follows – weetransfer30.istzu.de/ – or any other version.
If you have visited and typed in your email address and password you will have been taken to a page saying that the file is no longer available.
You now need to IMMEDIATELY change your email password otherwise your mail account will be compromised.
Yes, after many years of vigilance I was taken in as the mail came from a trusted source and, unthinkingly, I inserted my email address and password to gain access to the file download and was DUPED.
