PANAMA CITY — A fraudulent email and telephone scam is appearing to be from Citibank that requests personal information from the recipient to commit identity theft, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
BCSO said Citibank stated “they would never ask for personal information by email or phone call.”
The Sheriff’s Office is urging people to disregard the contact. They also said most of these calls and emails come from outside the country and are difficult to prosecute.
