BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — A Bradley County resident who believed she was protecting herself from fraud instead became the victim of a scam that led to an arrest after detectives intervened during a second attempted cash pickup.
According to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, the resident was contacted on April 3rd by individuals posing as bank representatives and a federal agent.
The callers claimed her accounts had been compromised and instructed her to withdraw cash to “secure” her funds.
After complying and handing over money at her home, BCSO says the resident realized she had been scammed and reported the incident to law enforcement.
Detectives then worked with the victim when the suspects attempted to collect more money.
On April 7th, BCSO says investigators were on scene when a gray Tesla arrived at the victim’s residence.
