PlainsCapital Bank officials said Tuesday they received reports of phishing calls and texts that appear to have come from the bank asking for debit card information.
PlainsCapital said it never texts, calls or emails customers asking for account information. Officials said the scam is part of a nationwide fraud ring affecting other banks.
Anyone who may have received a call they believe was fraudulent is asked to report the incident via email at reportfraud@plainscapital.com or by visiting a local bank branch.
PlainsCapital Bank replaced all former Edinburg-based First National Bank locations across the state in September.
