Windhoek — Bank Windhoek has warned its clients and the general public about a new phishing scam from unscrupulous individuals claiming to represent the bank.
In the latest scam, clients receive an email with the subject heading, ‘Bank Windhoek Security Information’ from a certain Karl Servini, who claims to be ‘head of customer e-communication.’
The email requests clients to take part in an online survey where they are required to verify their identity and security details. Bank Windhoek says categorically that it does not employ the sender of the email, while reiterating that it will never request personal information from clients through SMS or an email, neither would clients be requested to follow links attached to emails. Clients are advised to ignore such emails and to delete them immediately.
“Bank Windhoek would like to thank our clients who have alerted us of this scam in order to warn other clients not to be victims. It is only through team work that we can fight phishing scams, which are becoming more sophisticated every day,” said Riaan van Rooyen, the bank’s head of corporate communication and social investment.
