Two Sun Valley residents have been indicted on dozens of felony charges tied to an alleged multimillion-dollar Medicaid fraud scheme.
Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced that Lawrence Carter, 55, and Leasa Carter, 61, face 69 felony counts, including Medicaid fraud, racketeering, identity theft and theft.
A grand jury returned a 70-count indictment, according to the AG’s office.
Prosecutors allege the two fraudulently obtained at least $2 million from Nevada Medicaid over several years.
According to the indictment, they used multiple companies to conceal their involvement in Medicaid provider businesses. Authorities say they submitted false enrollment applications and claims for services that were not provided.
Investigators also allege the use of other people’s identities, including older victims, to carry out the scheme.
