MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Several more people have come forward with complaints after a Columbia County contractor was charged with stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly customer.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Frederick Burdick of La Valle on May 18 following an investigation into multiple reports of contractor fraud.
The next day, Burdick was charged with theft in a business setting between $5,000 to $10,000, and theft by a contractor between $5,000 to $10,000. Both charges involved an elderly victim.
Burdick was released May 19 on a $1,000 signature bond.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Burdick has operated under the business names “The R&J Company” and “Everest Handman and Appliances.”
