The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) warns the public to exercise caution when conducting financial services business with an individual purporting to be associated with Rowan Capital (Pty) Ltd, an authorised financial service provider, with FSP number 46000 (Rowan Capital).
The FSCA received information that there is an individual impersonating Rowan Capitals on WhatsApp. The impersonator is using the details of Rowan Capital and Mr Gus Allen, who is a representative of Rowan Capital. The impersonator contacted Rowan Capital’s retail investors via WhatsApp and requested their banking details under the pretext of ensuring a “successful withdrawal” of their investments. Rowan Capital confirmed that it is not associated with the impersonator.
The FSCA was unable to contact the impersonator.
