CROTON – A license plate reader tracing a vehicle to a fraudulent transaction allegedly undertaken at a bank in Mahopac last month has led to the arrest of a resident of Maine in connection with a similar incident in Croton on Hudson.
Croton Police have announced the arrest of Alisha Maxcy, 36, of Augusta in connection with the incident.
Police said authorities in Croton received a report of identity theft from a local resident. The victim reported that an unknown woman withdrew a hefty sum of money from her bank account on three separate occasions at a Briarcliff Manor bank.
Detectives worked closely with the Briarcliff Manor Police Department to investigate the incident. Information was developed that the same suspect had also targeted multiple other branches of the same bank throughout June.
