On Friday, 20 January 2017, police in Ganyesa apprehended a 25-year-old man for fraud and possession of suspected stolen cash.
The suspect’s arrest stems from an incident in which he allegedly took a bank card from a woman at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). It is alleged that the suspect pretended to be assisting the victim, then swapped her bank card and left the ATM. Upon realising that her card was swapped, the victim alerted a police official. The police launched a manhunt and that paid off when the suspect was arrested at a local petrol filling station.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Ganyesa Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 January 2017.
