RUSK COUNTY — A man accused of playing a key role in a financial scam that targeted a Rusk County, Wisconsin resident has been sentenced to prison. The victim, who had clicked a suspicious link on their computer, was subsequently manipulated into withdrawing large sums of cash in a scheme involving fake tech support, coordinated cash withdrawals, and a courier who came to the victim’s home to collect the money.
In a coordinated law enforcement operation, investigators arrested Miteshkumar Chaudhari (25) of Oak Forest, Illinois, when he came to the victim’s home to collect additional funds. The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office contacted ICE to begin the detainer process, and multiple felony charges were filed against Chaudhari, including attempted theft and crimes against an elderly or disabled person.
