The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) warns the public to be cautious when dealing with individuals impersonating the FSCA, and its Commissioner, Mr Unathi Kamlana (the Commissioner).
The FSCA received complaints from members of the public, claiming that they were contacted by an individual identifying himself as Lucas Ludka. The individual claimed to be a Senior Lawyer within the Investigations Department at FSCA and used the Commissioner’s name on a letter of authority he provided to members of the public.
The letter of authority reflected that the FSCA identified grant funds that were unlawfully used by third parties in investment schemes. Members of the public were informed that they might be entitled to a refund. The letter of authority was distributed to members of the public via WhatsApp using the number +372 5616 2589.
The FSCA confirms that it is not involved with refunds relating to grants.
The FSCA confirms that Lucas Ludka is not an employee. The FSCA was unable to reach the impersonators on the contact details provided to it. The FSCA is investigating this matter and urges the public to be vigilant.
