HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A family doctor from Houston was arrested in connection with tens of millions in fraudulent Medicare claims, according to the FBI’s Houston Office.
In a social media post on Monday afternoon, FBI Houston stated that Dr. Joseph Montes was arrested after being federally indicted.
According to officials, the indictment is in connection with more than $20 million in fraudulent COVID-19-related Medicare claims. FBI Houston did not specify the details connecting Montes to the fraudulent claims.
Authorities said Montes was arrested and appeared in federal court on Monday morning. Officials said he faces three federal charges.
