A Houston-area doctor has been indicted for his alleged role in a multi-year scheme to fraudulently bill the federal government for medical services that allegedly never occurred, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas.
Dr. Joseph A. Montes, 66, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, five counts of wire fraud, and six counts of money laundering, according to court records. According to the FBI Houston Office, Montes was arrested and appeared in federal court on Monday morning.
