Email Fraud Alert received from: Karl
I recently received an email with this subject line: FNB π Activate Your FNB CARD Via Platform@fnb.co.za and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:
Dear Valued Card Holder,
As Directed by South African Credit Card Authorities, All card holders are
advised to register their FNB cards on the new security platform to avoid
your account from being compromised and also deactivated. To reactivate
your Credit/debit Card Kindly click on the below ATTACHED and follow
instructions.
SEE ATTACHED TO REACTIVATE/REGISTER YOUR FNB CARD
*NOTE: Failure to do this will lead to suspension of your ATM Card.*

The mere addition of a smiley face to the subject line does not inspire confidence that your message is legitimate – quite the OPPOSITE in fact.
