Recently, VISA card holders of the Firefighters FCU in Waterbury CT were targets of a social engineered telephone scam. Firefighters FCU responded quickly by posting a fraud alert on their web site.
The Firefighters FCU fraud alert was crucial in that it not only informed their members but it informed the local community. However, once consumers were notified of the scam, many were still concerned and confused as to how the scam worked and how their specific phone was used.
This is where eFraud Prevention helped out. eFraud Prevention provided the tools so that consumers were able to educate themselves regarding this scam and learn about the precautions they need to take to avoid other types of fraud.
