Email Fraud Alert received from: Erica
I recently received an email with this subject line: Do you know Anneka? and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:
Hello,
My name is Erica Wright, associate attorney (Howard & Associates) based here in the UK. My firm represents Late Lady Anneka, a South African by birth, who died in 2002 leaving an intestate which has remained unclaimed there is no Will.
Presently, the bank is applying to forfeit the estate to the treasury as unclaimed as the law requires if no one comes up to lay claim to it within a stipulated time frame.
I was directed to you by your country’s embassy here in UK as the most probable relative by ancestral lineage and also both of you share the same surname. I have all the necessary documentation relating to this deposit account and having rechecked you with the consulate here, can posit that you are likely related to my late client by ancestral lineage as she migrated to the UK from your country.
I awaits your speedy response for full details and discussion on the above matter.
Best Regards
I remains,
Erica Wright

I, Erica, have the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent email message from “FrontOffice”:
“Erica Wright”This is one of those times that I love Gmail as anyone who sends a message via Gmail will have their Google avatar displayed next to their name and in the RHS Sidebar. As you can see from the accompanying image the sender of this message DOES NOT look like an Erica!
Where I come from Erica is a normal name for a caucasian female and not an asian male.
Kak try, buddy!
And, I reported you for phishing!
