Email Fraud Alert received from: Not an American
I recently received an email with this subject line: Claim your cash by 8pm tonight and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
I think the following:
Hoo boy – just because I have a .com e-mail address doesn’t make me an American!
And, why by 8:00 pm tonight – is my unclaimed cash going to mysteriously implode?
Pull the other leg, idjut.

UNCLAIMED ASSETS NOTIFICATION
Re: Unclaimed money in your area
Dear Sir/Madam,
It has come to our attention that millions of Americans may possibly have unclaimed assets, including cash, that will be forfeited unless claimed through local state treasurers.
Do YOU have missing money?
Click Here to search for your unclaimed assets.
How did this occur? There are several ways in which unclaimed property and assets go unaccounted for.
Common types of unclaimed property include:
Bank accounts and safe deposit box contents
Stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and dividends
Uncashed checks and wages
Insurance policies, CD’s, trust funds
Utility deposits, escrow accounts
Although the State or local province acts as a custodian for unclaimed cash or assets, these agencies do not typically continue to contact owners
Please do not delay in doing your unclaimed money search!
Claims processing times do vary from state to state and by property type. Please note you will have to contact the state or province Unclaimed Property Department directly to inquire about a specific claim inquiry, once you have submitted a claim.
Remember, there is NO charge for this service and you should beware of any websites that ask you to pay a fee.
Sincerely,
Claim Your Cash Notification Dept.
