Email Fraud Alert received from: Ouma
I recently received an email with this subject line: Your tax refund request and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
Ouma has the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent message:
Yea Right!
Pretty sneaky in the way that the phisher attempts to hide the attached ‘file’ by naming it as: TAX_REFUND_REQUEST_FORM.PDF.html
The full contents of the e-mail appear below:
Dear Taxpayer,
after the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity, we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of R10,457.85. Please submit the tax refund request form attached with required information and allow 6-9 days in order to process it.
Download and open the tax refund form to begin.
Note : A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons, for example submitting invalid records or applying after deadline.
