Email Fraud Alert received from: Anne
I recently received an email with this subject line: Your Rebate Request From FordOwner.com Has Been Received and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:

Thank you for choosing your Ford Dealer. We have received your Ford Service rebate request for the promotion(s) listed below; please keep this email with the tracking numbers for future reference:
Rebate Requested
$70 Rebate on 4 Michelin tires
If we are unable to match the information provided with our records, you will be required to mail, email, or fax a complete copy of your detailed invoice or repair order showing the work performed at your Ford Dealer. We will notify you via email within the next week if this is required.
You can check the status of your rebate on www.FordOwner.com/rebates.Just login and select “Check My Rebate Status” from the home page. You will need the tracking numbers in this email, and your email address.

I, Anne, have the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent email message from “fordrebate@automed5.com”:
OKay – so my name is NOT armand, BUT, these guys did get my surname right – based on the structures of the gmail address of mine that they used guessing my surname is a no-brainer.
I DO NOT won a Ford which makes me think that this is a phishing mail as it asks one to phone.
