The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) welcomes the suspension of two officials of the Gauteng Department of Community Safety for alleged corruption.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi summarily suspended the Head of Department, Nontsikelelo Sisulu, and the Chief Financial Officer, Mduduzi Malope, following a forensic audit that uncovered financial irregularities in the Department.
Over the weekend, the Gauteng provincial government released 39 forensic investigation reports highlighting allegations of corruption among officials and service providers.
It is encouraging that steps are finally being taken against officials accused of alleged corruption, but the party believes this is merely the tip of the iceberg.
It is critical to swiftly and thoroughly complete a full investigation and to pursue criminal charges if prima facie evidence of corruption is found.
