On Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 3:50 p.m., the Ephrata Police Department responded to 379 N Reading Rd, Ephrata- Planet Fitness for a theft not in progress. Police determined that a gym member entered the women’s locker room and removed several credit cards plus $65 cash from another member’s wallet. Within minutes, the victim received a mobile notification that one of her credit cards was declined at the Weis Markets located within the same shopping center.
Police went to Weis Markets and determined that the suspect attempted to complete five transactions using the stolen credit cards, but all attempts were declined. When leaving Weis Markets, the suspect took possession of unpaid merchandise, passed all points of sale, and left the store without paying for $16 worth of merchandise.
