On Thursday, May 21, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) searched the Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital (PSKUS), the Traumatology and Orthopaedics Hospital (TOS), and the Vidzeme Hospital in Valmiera, due to alleged illegal agreements between officials at these hospitals and suppliers of medical goods, KNAB reported.
Contract value affected – over 3.6 million euros
Information available to KNAB indicates that, to ensure these companies’ success, the technical specifications of the tenders were likely adapted to the requirements of specific medical supply providers.
The contract value affected by the criminal offences is at least 3,679,964.40 euros, funded from the budgets of Latvia and the European Union.
Searches were conducted in more than 17 locations across Latvia as part of the criminal proceedings, including at Vidzeme Hospital, TOS, and PSKUS.

HOW TO SPOT A “RED FLAG” (THE BEHAVIORAL AUDIT)
Keep an eye out for these behavioral shifts in your staff:
Refusal to take leave: Afraid someone will find their “adjustments.”
Unexplained wealth: Buying luxury items that don’t match their known salary.
Working odd hours: Preferring to work alone late at night when no one is watching the system.
“Gatekeeper” behavior: Becoming overly defensive or angry when someone asks to see their records.
