WESTERN CAPE – A 37-year-old suspect was today, 17 September 2026, arrested by the Hawks’ Bellville based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team assisted by Tactical Response Team(TRT) for vehicle finance fraud, after a warrant of arrest was issued against him.
It is alleged that during February 2019, the suspect submitted false proof of income in support of an application for vehicle finance. Eventually, he obtained finance for a 2019 Mercedes-Benz 6.3 AMG for the principal debt amount of R354 990-00.
The vehicle was delivered to him, however after meticulous investigation, it was established that the application was fraudulent. The vehicle was recovered and handed over to the financial provider.
The suspect will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates Court on 18 September 2026.
