MPUMALANGA- Mndeni John Mnisi (35) appeared before the Eerstehoek Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 18 November 2020 after he was arrested by members of the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Middelburg for Fraud.
It is alleged that on the 20 February 2018 Mnisi who was employed by the Department of Home Affairs as an Immigration Officer at Oshoek Port of Entry unlawfully endorsed the stamp on the passport and extended the visitor`s visa for Miss Khetsile Nomhlanhla Sibongiseni Dlamini who is an eSwatini citizen while she was not present. On the day in question, Mnisi was caught red handed by the Assistant Director Counter Corruption while busy stamping the passport without the owner and he was later dismissed.
The case was transferred to the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Middelburg. Investigation was finalised and the case was presented before the Public Prosecutor who authorised the summons for the accused to appear in court on the 18 November 2020. The case is postponed to 03 December 2020.
