South Dakota’s top legal officials say due to its nature, South Dakota isn’t a primary target for federal fraudsters. But they’re still making targeting fraud a priority.
District of South Dakota U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons and South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley held a presentation Thursday to highlight the efforts state and federal governments are putting towards prosecuting fraud. The two say the offices have been working together on the issue and lifted up some specific cases in the works.
Parsons said a call by the Trump Administration is the “genesis” for Thursday’s presentation.
“It’s one of the priorities I’ve been given by the president, is fighting fraud and government fraud in government programs,” Parsons said at a press conference Thursday afternoon. “And we’re gonna do that.”
