ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) —
Officials in Rosenberg are warning residents not to be caught up in a phishing scam.
Residents who receive water services from the city of Rosenberg have been receiving letters offering ‘water service line coverage.’ Officials say these offers are in no way affiliated with the city’s utility departments.
Some of the letters from independent companies request residents provide their credit card number or bank account information. Residents are cautioned not to provide this information to anyone who solicits through unwanted means.
Anyone receiving such a letter is advised to contact their insurance agent to see if their homeowner’s insurance already provides such coverage. If they wish to purchase coverage, they are advised to research the company and check with a company such as the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Reports before entering into an agreement.
