ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A Rochester woman has been sentenced in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
Zamzam Jama previously pleaded guilty in February 2025 to money laundering for her role in the scheme that exploited $250 million of federal funding for a child nutrition program.
Jama received a sentence of six months. Court records show Jama must voluntarily surrender to her “place of confinement” by Jun. 2. If a designation has not been determined she will need to surrender to the U.S. Marshal Services in Minneapolis by that date.
Jama, along with five others from Rochester, operated out of the Brava Restaurant and Cafe in Rochester. The conspirators claimed the restaurant served 2,000 to 3,000 daily meals to children.
In total, the restaurant received approximately $4.3 million in fraudulent child nutrition program funds. Jama was responsible for $491,245 of the stolen funds.
