The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), today, on its website posted a notification, cautioning public against a fraudulent email, that has been making rounds. This email has been sent and signed in its name as `Reserve Bank of India’.

But in reality that’s not the case. The apex bank also mentions: The mail has referred to provisions of Banking Regulation act, 1949 and Prevention of Money Laundering Rules, 2005 and informs bank account holders about the Reserve Bank setting up a new 24×7 Centralised Monitoring Centre to monitor financial transaction flow from the Internet Banking Accounts. This email gives you a link, wherein you as bank account holder is asked to provide your account information.
RBI has cautioned public that these are fraudulent emails, and neither has RBI sent any such email, nor has it set up any 24×7 Centralised Monitoring Centre to monitor financial transaction flow from the Internet Banking Accounts.
In case, you receive such emails do not open the mail or attachment. Also, do not try to download it on your computer or provide your data on such links. There is a good possibility that your data might be compromised.
