GAUTENG – Sarika Chetty (45) appeared in the Germiston Regional Court yesterday after the Hawks’ Germiston Serious Commercial Crime Investigation (SCCI) successfully executed a J50 warrant of arrest that implicated her in a multimillion-rand theft case.
The suspect was arrested on Monday, 17 August 2026, following a thorough investigation into the theft of funds from her employer. It is alleged that Chetty stole R8 million from the company.
The company is responsible for the administration of deceased estates and managing of beneficiary funds. The accused allegedly transferred the funds out of the bank accounts specifically opened for deceased estates, as regulated by the Administration of Estates Act.
The fraud came to light in August 2022 when a beneficiary attempted to claim their inheritance, only to discover that the funds in their accounts were missing.
The case has been postponed to Friday, 21 August 2026 for a formal bail application.
