According to Yahoo, the scam takes the disguise of an email from Amazon. It’s been sent to thousands of consumers with the subject line “Your Amazon.com order cannot be shipped.” Obviously, for any dedicated online shopper, this is a must-open email. But this is where the scam starts: The message prompts you to click a link to confirm certain information and states that failure to provide the needed information will result in you losing access to your account and prevent you from placing future orders. The link takes you to a fake, but very credible-looking web page that prompts you to fill out details like your name, address and bank card information. Once you hit “save and continue” the page redirects to Amazon’s homepage, making it seem legitimate.
