Break-in at electronics store
At 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, Fenton police responded to an electronics store in the 17000 block of Silver Parkway to check on a commercial alarm. The building appeared secure, however, when the keyholder arrived, they discovered that someone had gained entry into the business. Once inside, the suspects gained access to numerous cell phones. A radio alert went out and Fenton police learned that Mt. Morris Township police had responded to a similar break-in a couple hours prior. Detectives are hoping surveillance videos will help them identify a suspect.
Couple caught shoplifting
On Friday, Feb. 22, Fenton police responded to a retail store in the 3700 block of Owen Road to investigate a shoplifting complaint. An employee had a 21-year-old Fenton man and a 17-year-old Genesee female in custody. The couple was observed selecting and concealing electronics items, as well as health and beauty items. When they failed to pay at the checkout, employees confronted them and escorted them back in. The items were recovered and they said they stole them to sell for cash. They have a March 25 court date for retail fraud.
Catalytic converters stolen
At 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 25, Fenton police received a larceny of three catalytic converters, and copper landscaping pipe from a business in the 300 block of Fenway Drive. Thieves stole a catalytic converter from a 2002 Chevy van and two from a 2003 Silverado pickup truck sometime between Feb. 8 and 22.
