WESTERN CAPE – The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in George have on 26 April 2024 arrested a 43-year-old Lungiswa Tania Klaas on a warrant of arrest. She appeared before the Plettenberg Bay Magistrates’ Court on the same day on charges of fraud. Klaas was granted R5000.00 bail and the matter is postponed to 06 June 2024 for Regional Court date.
It is reported that during the period 2021 and 2022 an intelligence driven operation was conducted at a roadworthy vehicle testing station in Plettenberg Bay.
Investigation revealed that Klaas received money to facilitate and provide a roadworthy certificate for a vehicle that was never present nor inspected by the roadworthy station.
She allegedly made use of a contact at a roadworthy station in Port Elizabeth to do the fraudulent roadworthy transaction. The Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Western Cape, Brigadier Ramovha, lauded the team for their continued efforts in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
