More than 1,400 students and OSU employees may have been exposed to a phishing scam this past week.
OSU Communications sent out an email alert Thursday warning students and staff about the scam.
The scam reportedly impersonates an O-Key administrator and directs recipients to confirm email account details and provide private information that would allow access to the user’s OSU email account.
Provost Robert Sternberg sent an email Friday detailing that more than 1,400 students and employees might have received the email that caused OSU to be blacklisted on both AOL and Yahoo!.
In response to the scam, OSU IT reset all passwords on emails that may have been affected Thursday.
If your password was changed, visit https://app.it.okstate.edu/okey/ and click on the “reset password” link.
Sternberg’s email also said the IT department has learned of two more scams hitting the OSU campus as well as North Eastern Oklahoma College and Connors State College. He said the emails could come from @okstate.edu, @mail.okstate.edu, @email.okstate.edu, @neo.edu or @connorstate.edu.
OSU IT asks that anyone who received a suspicious email and opened it contact the Help Desk at 405-744- 4357.
