PENSACOLA, Fla. — Three U.S. attorneys in the state of Florida are leading a new federal anti-fraud task force. Its goal is to find and prosecute those who are defrauding taxpayer-funded programs.
Members of this new task force will not only share information, but pool resources to help spot fraud before taxpayer money is lost.
The anti-fraud task force focuses on fraud involving federal government programs.
Investigators, state prosecutors, and agencies will take closer looks at programs, like Medicaid, housing and veteran benefits.
U.S. attorney Jack Heekin was among the three chosen to lead the task force under the direction of the Department of Justice’s National Fraud Division. He serves Florida’s Northern District and is based in Pensacola.
