A YouTuber by the name of RaomerRelm posted a video detailing his experience of a taxi driver who attempted to extort him of a whole lot of money just for a trip from the Port of Port Elizabeth to the Boardwalk and back.
According to RoamerRealm the quoted price for the trip there and back was R100.00 (would have been far cheaper in a minibus taxi!).
RoamerRealm and the Taxi Driver agreed to meet a certain time after the drop-off at the Boardwalk and then he would be transported back to the Port. Apparently the taxi driver, when picking RoamerRealm up, demanded R1000.00 for the trip and got aggressive whilst locking RoamerRealm in the vehicle (a legitimate looking taxi with the taxi sign).

What did RoamerRealm do to compromise himself? He hailed a taxi on the street instead of using an e-hailing service OR one of the ‘trusted’ taxi services allowed access into the Port. In addition he could have enquired from a local (or the security guards at the entrance of the Port) as to what the fifferent rates were.
Luckily for him he was ‘saved’ by a friendly local.
