A couple arrested in 2025 after their daughter died inside a safety bed in filthy conditions is now also facing murder and fraud-related charges.
Heather Lynn and Darcy Ronald Cross are both facing new charges in Crow Wing County court in connection with their 10-year-old daughter’s death, including second-degree murder without intent and four counts of wrongfully obtaining assistance.
Both had already been charged with second-degree manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the need for child protection or services.

The new charges brought against the Crosses arose from their daughter being placed in protective custody.
According to the new charging documents, once their daughter was placed outside the home, she did not exhibit the same behaviors Heather and Darcy claimed she had.
