LAS VEGAS (FOX5) –
Safe Nest is alerting the public of a phishing scam related to an email address purported to be from the southern Nevada nonprofit agency.
According to Safe Nest, an email from “safenest.org@aol.com” directs the recipient to click on a link, which gives the person a form to complete to contact a participant at the agency.
Safe Nest said it never contacts anyone regarding someone participating in its programs. In addition, Safe Nest said the email is in no way affiliated with the organization.
“This is very disturbing on many levels,” said Lisa Lynn Chapman, JD, Safe Nest’s director of community relations. “Our entire program is based on confidentiality. Safe Nest does not release the names of our clients nor do we solicit personal information from anyone related to our clients.”
Though Safe Nest is warning people of the phishing scam, administrators said the domestic violence agency was not hacked and no client information was compromised.
