The Better Business Bureau is warning that e-mails from “US Airways” are actually a scam. It’s called “Phishing”, a scam where you receive unsolicited e-mails from what appears to be a real business.
Recently numerous e-mails from “US Airways” have been appearing in inboxes across the country. The phony e-mails contain an itinerary for a flight reservation and contain a link to confirm the flight.
Clicking on the link can allow the scammers to steal your personal information or introduce a virus into your computer. Similar phishing scams recently have been made to look like they’re from the IRS and the Better Business Bureau itself.
The BBB says if you receive one of the e-mails you should:
Check any links by hovering your mouse pointer over the link to identify the URL. A legitimate link will have a URL with “usairways.com.”
Do not click on any links or download any attachments.
Delete the email.
