EAST LANSING – The Michigan State University Police sent out warning through their social media accounts that an e-mail scam is being used to steal passwords and banking information.
The phishing message – an e-mail used to scam information from an unsuspecting user – with the subject “MSU WARNING!!!” is one of what MSU police say are several e-mails targeting MSU-related accounts.
“Do not respond to the email or the link provided,” the police said in a statement. “It is not a legitimate message from Michigan State University.” The police also tweeted the warning to their nearly 5,000 Twitter followers:

MSU Police are telling anyone who has responded to the message should change their password immediately or contact the IT Services Support Desk at 517-432-6200.
