Minnesota lawmakers are moving forward with a bipartisan plan to crack down on Medicaid fraud, just one day after the federal government deferred millions of dollars in Medicaid funding to the state.

The Medical Assistance Protection Act, known as the MAP Act, is advancing in both chambers. The Senate version of the bill is headed to the Senate floor after passing the Minnesota Senate Finance Committee on Friday. Meanwhile, the House version is expected to clear its final stop in the Ways and Means Committee on Monday.
Representative Matt Norris (DFL-Blaine), a co?author of the House bill, said the goal is simple: protect taxpayer dollars and stop increasingly complex fraud schemes targeting Minnesota’s Medicaid programs.
