Johann Rupert: Not His Words, Not His Endorsement

Would you believe an advert that:

1. Showed Cyril endorsing the DA (oops, I believe that he did!),
2. Showed DJT hitting a hole in one,
3. Claimed to pay a hundred thousand rand for an investment of thousands?

The video below shows an example of a financial product, advertised on YouTube, that needs to be taken with an oceans worth of salt.

Before you go ahead and visit this YouTube Advertiser (and I use the word Advertiser as a substitue for ‘Scammer’) consider this:

1. Johann Rupert is a well known South African Businessman who has accompanied the President of South Africa to the Oval Office to meet DJT in May 2025.
2. This is NOT Rupert’s voice.
3. I sincerely doubt that he would lend his image, voice or endorsement to a financial ‘product’ promising such irresponsibly high returns.

I visited minacete.vision on your behalf and found that the masthead of the site carries the TimesLive AND Sunday Times logos – probably to continue the scam and fraud that these people wish to do.

When you visit the fraudulent web site you will see this headline; “A new project called is now available to South Africa citizens, offering a potentially beneficial opportunity to generate income from 129 200 ZAR per month starting at just 4 200 ZAR!”

The Red Flags in the above line are:

1. The lack of editorial control – the headline says; “A new project called …” So just what is the project called then?
2. The offer to South African citizens only by a ‘company’ (of thieves?) whose pay off line is ‘Opportunities Across India!”
3. The insane promise of recurring returns from small investment amounts.
4. The incorrect use of our Currency indicator – it should read R129 200.00 and not 129 200 ZAR.

The web site features a Times Live icon, TimesLive logo, Sunday Times logo and is set up to look like a news site BUT the links all lead to the sign up form – typical scammer/fraudster behaviour.

AND, the web site features ‘testimonials’ from subscribers boasting how much money they have made. Just looking at the avatars any South African can see that ‘Ayanda Nkosi’ is NOT a white woman as depicted or that ‘Lindiwe Mahlangu’ is not a white man, in fact none of the names match the race of any of the reviewers depicted.

YES, I did report this advertiser to YouTube – I wonder if I will get any feedback OR if the advertiser will be taken down.

What is Fraud? “Fraud” is any activity that relies on deception in order to achieve a gain. Fraud becomes a crime when it is a “knowing misrepresentation of the truth or concealment of a material fact to induce another to act to his or her detriment” (Black’s Law Dictionary). In other words, if you lie in order to deprive a person or organization of their money or property, you’re committing fraud.
