Email Fraud Alert received from: William
I recently received an email with this subject line: Job Opportunities and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
William has the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent message:
If you are going to attempt a bit of phishing then please invest in a decent spell checker!
Company is not spelled as ‘Cpmpany’.
Or maybe you would like to sell your spell checker to me as it appears that it will be in mint condition?
Although you have the correct address for Chevron in the United Kingdom – Chevron have issued a warning on their web site re various phishing and other scam attempts:
Individuals claiming to represent Chevron or one of its many subsidiaries have approached people in a variety of fraudulent business transactions.
While Chevron has contacted law enforcement agencies regarding these kinds of activities, it is often difficult to locate and prosecute the perpetrators. Anyone receiving one of these offers should report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
