Investigators with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in stopping a series of identity thefts they believe can be traced back to mail thefts in a neighborhood outside of Cleburne.
During November and December, JCSO has investigated five reports of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, all of which originated in the Quail Park and Quail Run neighborhoods, according to a statement released Tuesday through the JCSO’s Wise Eyes Alert program. Based on the type of offenses and the proximity if the victims, investigators believe the perpetrators are stealing mail in that area.
Anyone who lives near the Quail Park-Quail Run area who has seen anyone they don’t recognize going through one or more mailboxes there is asked to contact the sheriff’s office communications center at 817-556-6060.
Investigators added that anyone anywhere who notices a stranger or strangers who appear to be going through mailboxes should call the appropriate law enforcement agency, based on the location where the incident occurs.
“We caution you not to approach the individual but to write down the license plate number of their vehicle, make notes on their description and become the best witness you can in an effort to help law enforcement capture these people,” investigators said.
