Email Fraud Alert received from: Claudia
I recently received an email with this subject line: IRS Lawsuit against me and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:
On Tuesday 5/17/2016–I received a phone call from Carlsbad, NM about a pending IRS lawsuit (575) 706-4195. I called the number and ask what the lawsuit was about, until I gave him information. I told him that he should be able to tell me first. He would not answer so I told him not to call me again.
On Wednesday 2/18/2016 I received another call from Charlotte, NC (704) 449-7821, informing me that if I did not call the IRS would proceed with the lawsuit. I called the number and ask the person what the law suit was about–he would not answer, but wanted my full name. I told him that he already had my name and number–he hung up on me. I called back and informed him that the IRS would have sent me a letter and that I was going to contact the IRS Fraud Number again he hung up on me. This man spoke broken English and sounded like the same man I talked to on 5/17/2016. He also answered the phone by calling himself Investigator.

I, Claudia, have the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent email message from “ClaudiaHoenicke”:
I called my Tax people H & R Bloc to let them know–however she said that 22 people fell for this trick and gave them information about they requested.
