NEW YORK CHANTILLY, Va.–()–Intrepidus
Group, a leading provider of information security consulting
services, today announced the successful spin-off of PhishMe,
Inc., a leading provider of anti-phishing training. The culmination
of over 10 years of social engineering assessments, Intrepidus Group
launched PhishMe in 2008 and during the incubation period helped PhishMe
establish itself as an industry leader and grow its customer base to
over 3 million users trained.
“Watching PhishMe spinoff is like watching your adult child move out.
You are proud that they have grown up, and excited about their future”
“Watching PhishMe spinoff is like watching your adult child move out.
You are proud that they have grown up, and excited about their future,”
said Dave Wong, Intrepidus Group President and COO. “This also means
that Intrepidus Group can go back to focusing 100% on our core business,
our clients and our team. We will continue to provide our clients with
the best mobile security consulting services, and serve as a think tank
to research and incubate new ideas, products and services.”
To keep pace with the ever evolving phishing threats, the decision was
made to spin-off PhishMe as an independent entity, with dedicated
resources for continued enhancements to its memorable and reliable user
awareness testing and training solutions. Each company is run by a
separate management team with Dave Wong leading Intrepidus Group as
president and COO. PhishMe co-founders Rohyt Belani and Aaron Higbee
will continue serving on the Intrepidus Group Board of Directors while
taking full-time roles as PhishMe CEO and CTO, respectively. Customers
will see no change in day-to-day operations with Intrepidus Group
focused on mobile security and PhishMe targeting phishing awareness and
training.
“PhishMe’s explosive growth and penetration into the security awareness
and training market has uniquely positioned the company to be a
successful standalone organization,” said Rohyt Belani. “The spin-off
allows both companies to cater to the specific needs of their customers
without compromise. Intrepidus Group will continue as a premier security
consultancy, while PhishMe will utilize spear phishing simulations to
raise awareness of the strategies and sophisticated tactics utilized by
hackers looking to compromise an organization’s data and systems.”
